Bio:
A native of Los Angeles, Nancy Crisostomo took up the clarinet at age twelve. Throughout her fundamental years, she was a member of several formations of wind ensembles performing traditional Oaxacan music (a fusion of regional-indigenous sound with 19th century European influence). The years she dedicated to the music of her heritage, formed a deep connection to music, culture, and community that she later pursued her degrees in performance and music education.
During her studies at Los Angeles City College, Nancy performed Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A major with the LACC Orchestra. As an undergraduate at California State University Northridge, Nancy served as concertmaster of the Wind Symphony, President of the Clarinet Club, and a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Society. In her last year as a graduate student, Nancy has served as principal clarinetist of the CSUN Symphony, concertmaster of Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony, and a student ambassador of the International Clarinet Association. Outside of school, Nancy has been performing with the Topanga Symphony and studying orchestral harp.
