Fun Fact: I cook most things that I eat, and if I can cook it, I likely won’t order it at a restaurant. I often tell my students that if I wasn’t a singer who cooks, I would be a chef who sings.
Bio: Alex is the lead administrator and recital director at South Pasadena Arts & Music Academy. She has been teaching at the school for over 8 years. On the days she is not teaching, you can find her at the front desk!
Alex teaches voice from beginning to advanced levels, piano from beginning to intermediate levels, and flute from beginning to intermediate levels. In addition to the South Pasadena Arts & Music Academy, she also maintains a private studio that focuses on vocal health and technique. Alex spent a number of years on faculty at Musicians Institute in Hollywood where she co-wrote and edited the vocal technique curriculum, and taught various classes on diction, and Latin/Brazilian styles.
One of Alex’s favorite things about being part of the SPAMA family is the school’s belief that the power of music can enrich everyday life and cultivate joy in community. Everyone is an artist in their own way, and Alex is committed to helping every student shine. She focuses on learning through play, discovery, and curiosity; developing a relationship and shared language with her students that help them feel that making mistakes is okay. Mistakes are how we learn!
Whether it applies to music now, or another area later in life, Alex hopes to help each student develop self discipline and a love for learning at any level, and at any speed.
