Bio: At the age of 13, Sam picked up his first pair of drum sticks, and hasn’t looked back since. By the age of 18, Sam had composed, recorded, and produced music with several original bands and had already performed in some of the most popular music venues in Los Angeles. Simultaneously, Sam began studying privately with many of Los Angeles’ best drummers and also attended Berklee College of Music summer programs right out of high school. While in college, Sam was the recipient of multiple awards and scholarships for Outstanding Musicianship, Performance, and Department Service. He also received a Medal for Outstanding Musicianship while competing in the Reno Jazz Festival Competition.
During his time in college, Sam also began to develop his skills playing piano, studying music theory, and working in music production. Sam has played in a wide variety of groups and ensembles, spanning a multitude of genres from symphony orchestras to punk rock bands, jazz big bands to percussion ensembles, and pop acts to solo drum set performances.
For the past 8 years Sam has been teaching music lessons privately and through summer music programs to kids and adults of all ages. Sam’s infectious enthusiasm for music and ability to custom tailor his students’ curriculum makes him a great candidate for your next music instructor!
